Basic Systematic Review & Meta-Analysis (4 half-days)

10-13 July 2023 (Mon-Thur, 9am to 1pm) (via Zoom)

This Basic Workshop provides an essential overview of the entire systematic review process, as described in the “Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions”. It covers the key topics of developing a focused question (PICO method), effective literature searching, assessing the risk of bias of studies, conducting meta-analysis using Review Manager, managing study heterogeneity and interpreting the results (e.g. Forest Plot and SoF table).

Software required: Review Manager

Introduction to Network Meta-Analysis (NMA) (4 half-days)

17-20 July 2023 (Mon-Thur, 9am to 1pm) (via Zoom)

The NMA Workshop is a mixture of lectures and practical work. NMA is an extension of direct pair-wise meta-analysis, which synthesizes evidence from direct and indirect comparisons to estimate and rank the clinical effectiveness of three or more interventions. Methods for data entry, analysis, managing heterogeneity, interpretation and presentation of the results will be covered.

Prerequisite: To have attended the “Basic Systematic Review & Meta-analysis Workshop” or have basic knowledge of meta-analysis.

Software required: NMA will be performed in Stata. Basic Stata knowledge is preferred.
